And I’m Back
August 17th, 2007 Posted 3:15 pm
Since having Scarlett, I’ve found it difficult to read anything of any length. In the year after she was born, I finished one book (ReMix by Jon Courtenay Grimwood) which, for someone who used to get through several books a week, is pretty appalling.
I got back into the swing of things a little when the final Harry Potter book came out, I wasn’t able to read it on release night because my head wasn’t in the right place but I did finish it a few days later (after I’d got home from Sectus). And now I’m back to reading Discworld. The fact that I’ve read each of his books at least three times doesn’t bother me, which is rare, I don’t even like rewatching some of my favourite films. So in the last three days I’ve reread Night Watch, The Fifth Elephant and Jingo.
They’re all ‘Watch’ books and feature Sam Vimes, Commander of the Ankh-Morpork City Watch, pretty heavily. In the past I’ve gone through phases of reading the Witches books (mainly for Granny Weatherwax) but this is the first time I’ve had a real Vimes kick. Regardless, it’s nice to be reading again, my head feels like it’s getting back to normal instead of being all over the place with zero concentration.
