I’m Hayley, a 22-year-old mother to Scarlett, residing in Buxton where I study Events Management with the University of Derby. I probably should have done something less vocational; all those people who said I’d be bored were right. Year two of the course is actually a lot more challenging and therefore, what with me being a sucker for punishment, more enjoyable. It’s hard work, it’s killing my social life…and I love it.
My music tastes are eclectic and changeable much to the horror of my friends who try to hide under the dashboard of my car when I’ve got Britney Spears blasting at full volume. Some of my friends are traumatised by me playing Lethal Bizzle whilst others are horrified by the sounds of Queensryche. My friends are also eclectic and changeable.
I read books, poetry, comics and whatever else has words in or on it. My preferred genre of, well, everything, is SF. In my mind, SF stands for Speculative Fiction and therefore covers science-fiction as well as fantasy and horror (although less of the latter, it scares me). I also enjoy historical fiction and books about web design related matters. I’ve been having trouble reading since I had my daughter and I’m trying to fix this.
At the weekend, I’m either Live (Action) Role-Playing (LRP), at a convention (possibly helping to run it) or I’m on the internet. I do have a social life, honest. I try to go to the Tun and to the Sheffield SF group meetings whenever I possibly can.
My ambition in life is to not have to worry about money. This is unlikely to be achieved (I’m a spender) without a lottery win (I’ve never bought a ticket) but it’s good to have something to aim for. Apparently.
